Zimmer and Secret
I've been meaning to call and let you know how "Zimmer" (we call him Wiley) is doing. His adult coat has come in all glossy and he looks good. He has of course gained weight; he was a pretty skinny guy when we got him. And now that he has been neutered his behavior is more acceptable.
He's a funny little guy: he has his own bed in a basket on the stairway landing near the front door, and he sleeps there in the daytime to keep an eye on the door. At night he has his choice of beds and human companions of course. He lies down to eat. He lies in front of his food dish and uses his paws to select the pieces of food he wants to eat. Some pieces are rejected and he tosses them aside. (Iiam's Lamb and Rice, dry.) This is an interesting mystery to me.
He likes my black long hair cat (formerly Secret, also from PAWS) "Bear" and they play together and chase each other around the house. Wiley can be very sweet and comes to his humans for affection, but he can also be a "coot" and terrorize the entire house by racing at top speed everywhere and "touching" everything. He just has to touch all new things and all things and people and animals that he finds interesting. He finds everything interesting. All of us, including the two other cats, just marvel at Wiley's behavior; he's so funny and has such a great personality.
I thank you, all of you at PAWS, for the two great cats I have from you.
Regards,
Cynthia

Vincent is doing great! We love him! He loves to play and isvery lovable. He gets alongwith my other cats and my Bassett hound very well. I've attached a couple of pictures. We are so happy we found him at your shelter. My nephew has adopted Yukon a month ago. He is doing very well also. He and his wife love him very much. We highly recommend your shelter to anyone who is looking to adopt.
Tipper
I just wanted to update you on "Tipper." We adopted Tipper a few years back when we lived in Round Rock. The Army took us to VA in 2003 so Tipper is with us here. We call her fearless and the 3-legged wonder cat. Weighing only 4.5 pounds and one hind leg nothing slows her down or gets in her way. She rules the roost and easily manages to get up on the bed to sleep or the back of the couch to look out the window. She made a wonderful addition to our family and we love her. She is very protectiv of our 2 year old twins. I just wanted to send you an update on her. I know she spent a long time in the shelter before she found us but we are so glad she did.

I am so pleased with my adoption of sweet little Josephine. She is loving her new big back yard and has recently graduated from the Puppy Headstart Program at Petsmart. She likes to go for walks, dig holes and play catch. She is so playful. At the beginning of January 2004, she weighed in at a healthy 46 pounds. I am so happy that I adopted Josephine. She brings much joy to my life! I love her!December 2003
Turtle (now named Kato) was adopted by Ed and Jennifer lastJanuary after spotting her picture on the Web site. Kato is a lovable, curious and friendly cat. Kato's favorite things to do are eating special treats, chasing her toy mice and watching the birds from the windows in our home. She loves head scratches, back scratches and cuddling on your lap. She is so much fun! Thank you!Ed, Jennifer and Kato

I first met Arnold when I was volunteering at the Lago Vista PAWS shelter. Can you believe I was afraid of this sweet 7 year old Bob-cat look alike? When I brought him home even our Golden Retriever took one look at his turned down ears and golden eyes and was afraid. Doc now enjoys sleeping in his leopard bed, playing with his tiger toys and enjoys only eating beef with gravy cat food! We are truly blessed with this much loved cat! We still think he may still be part Bob-cat at times, so we renamed him "Doc Holiday." Doc sends his love to all the volunteers at PAWS that took car of him and has asked me to continue to help his friends. It has been a honor to support the shelter.Tammy

I wanted you all to know how Miss LadyBug is doing at her new home. She has adjusted extremely well. She enjoys her Daddy's visit in the morning when he comes in to play with her before he goes to work. She chases her balls until she's tired then rolls on her back for her daily belly rub! This is quite the sight! Mom plays chase the string and feathers around the scratch board, she loves this activity. Before bedtime she gets her kitty snack and then she's brushed, which is her favorite part. She has made a big difference in our lives since the loss of our first cat "Stripes" who left us on Sept. 8th. We want to Thank You for taking such good care of her. We think you all do a great service for these animals and you are much appreciated by all. We are blessed to have this wonderful fun-loving Kitty-Cat. Miss LadyBug sends her love. Good morning, as we talked yesterday, please find an attached picture of Fireball, now named "Rusty." Here's Rusty taking a happy siesta after a good lunch. We love this cat, he is very smart and very sweet. You can see he is very happy here and so are we.Best regards,
Fernando and Marilyn Ernie was adopted by Kirk in August of this year. He is so happy with his new life that he decided to change his name to Jambie, short for Jambalaya. Kirk and Jambie have just moved into a new home in Round Rock and they are both very happy.
Thanks for a perfect match!

Hey guys!! Thought I would give you a fresh image of our babies. Buck (Ranger) is still doing wonderful and now that he has a lil brother and a soulmate he's a very happy healthy guy. Thank you for taking the chance on us so that we could take a chance on one of the best things in our lives. Keep up the great work.!!!! (Buck, Dexter, & Twyla)August 2003
We've changed Classy's name to Madeline. She is doing great. She is a very nice kitty. She is still trying to get our older cat to like her, may take a few more months. She loves to play in all of our daughter's doll toys. We also brought home Danny (a dog) from your shelter about a month ago. Danny and Madeline are great friends. Quite fun... We had a great experience with Lago Vista PAWS and are very happy we found animals that will beterrific extensions to our family. Danny has been going to Hearts and PAWS for puppy training for a couple of weeks now and is doing very well. The cat is an instigator and chases him - so we need to get to a lesson in "Ignore the Kitty" at puppy school! Thanks again for you interest and care for animals in the community.Sincerely,
Dawn and Frederick

Everything is going juuuuust great. She's one sweet little tigress! (I jokingly call my cats "personal tigers"). The Friday after I adopted her, I brought her by the vet, mostly just to get her on their records and make sure that they agree that everything's fine with her (not surprisingly, yes). Everybody at the vet's office just thought she was the cutest little kitty they'd ever seen! (Well, OK, maybe I'm exaggerating a little out of fatherly pride, but everybody wanted to look at her and pet her.) The other two cats, 16-year-old brother and sister, pretty much accept her now, although they don't preferentially hang out with her much. But even that's slowly improving too.Gary

Hi, my name was Kitri. My new mom and Dad call me Maggie. My parents adopted me just2 days ago and they said that I was really a good girl. Last night there were no accidents inside the house. Yesterday afternoon I went to the door and they opened it and I wasn't afraid of the noise, just went right out. I went swimming in the pool with Oso. It was fun. Mom gave me something she calls an ear...Piggie ear! I don't know what that is, but it sure tastes good! I do get along with my brother, but there are times he doesn't want me around. Thank you for finding me a good home, Love, MaggieMay 2003
Tim (aka Bo) has been a part of our family for the past year. He will be with us all his life. Of course we love him! And he has 2 other dogs (rescued) and a cat he shares his life with. This picture of him is current. He is about 65 pounds now and healthy and happy. Thank you for saving him! Agnes and MarkPepper
Just wanted to let you know how much we like the new Web site. It was a real treat to find a photo of our cat, Pepper, on the Walter's Wish page! We adopted Pepper in January, and had seen that photo in your scrapbook. How nice to see it again! Walter and Pepper were quite a pair, weren't they?!Pepper is doing great. She's absolutely the best little kitty our family could have hoped for. Lago Vista PAWS was recommended to me by a coworker, and I'm so glad we adopted through your organization. As first-time pet owners, we were concerned about finding the right cat for our family. The staff and volunteers know the animals and their personalities so well. We definitely made the perfect match - thanks, Janet! We just don't understand how anyone else could have overlooked Pepper for so long. I guess she was waiting for us to come along...
Thanks again for a great experience.

We are so happy with our new dog Victor. Finding him was a dream come true. Your staff was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We had gone to several places but your staff Knew the most about the dogs. They knew each dog individually, their character and behavior. They helped find the right dog for us and gave us great advise for training him. Victor is doing great in his new home. He is a very loving dog and likes to stay close to his new owners. He is a fast learner! He has almost mastered housetraining in only 2 weeks and has learned how to sit in only 1 day. He loves his new backyard and will come on command. Victor is getting bigger everyday but hasn't shown the tiniest bit of aggression. He loves to be around people and his tail seems to wag more and more everyday!! We really couldn't have asked for a better dog. We can't believe so many people passed up such a wonderful dog. Thanks so much! Rob, Bridget, & VictorHoney, the Wonder Dog!
We received the following update from a lady who adopted a dog we had rescued. When Honey was found, she had a severely damaged eye and she had been shot by a pellet gun. The cause of the eye injury was unknown. The vet could not save Honey's eye, so it had to be removed. Despite all that Honey has been through, she recovered and is a happy, healthy, and loving companion. Here's Teresa's story:
I have to share a sweet story about a dog you saved. The people who run a delivery service I use have a little girl (about 9 years old) that sometimes accompanies them. When she does, she takes Honey for a walk (Actually, Honey takes the little girl for a run up and down the block).
Last night, her mother told me that somehow the subject of organ donation came up. The little girl told them that if anything happened to her, she'd want to give Honey one of her eyes.
