Your new or gently worn used shoes still have life-changing impact left in them. How? They can be used in developing nations for impoverished people to start, maintain, and grow a micro-enterprise. Micro-entrepreneurs repurpose every donation into a new pair of shoes or other usable goods.
Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions is collecting new and gently worn shoes that will be cleaned and repaired and sent to developing nations such as Haiti, Pakistan, Honduras, and many others. Families with no other means of income or livelihood will sell the shoes to provide food and clothing. Our shelter will receive money based on the number of pairs of shoes we collect. So check the bottom of all your closets and bring us your new or gently worn pairs of shoes today! Any type of shoe counts, from flip-flops to soccer cleats to dress shoes to sandals. They are all valuable.
Dates: March 15 – May 15
Where: Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions, 20803 FM 1431. Please place shoes in the bin located at the top of the driveway or on the bench by the front door.

Has a photo of a particular dog or cat tugged on your heartstrings? Would you like to get to know that animal a little better and contribute to his or her care here at the shelter? For a small monthly donation you can virtually adopt that animal! We will send you an information package with a photo of the pet, how they came to live at the shelter, their birthday, and what they like to do during the day. Once or twice a year we will also send out an update on the pet. You can come down to the shelter to meet the pet and get your photo taken with him or her, or bring them a special toy or blanket or some treats. If the pet finds its forever home we will notify you right away so you may transfer your donation to another pet at the shelter. To get started just select a dog or cat, choose the sponsorship level, and click on the Sponsorship button on the animal’s profile page.
Sunday May 8 from noon until 3pm at Tomlinson's Feed and Pet, 2800 E. Whitestone Blvd. in Cedar Park
We are always looking for more volunteers to help take care of our cats and dogs. Cat care taking involves scooping litterboxes, feeding cats, giving medications, and takes about 2-3 hours. We like to have our cats taken care of in the morning. Dog care taking involves hosing down dog kennels, feeding, giving medications, and walking. There are 2 shifts - 7am and 5pm. The morning shift is very intense and takes about 6 hours, while the evening shift only takes about 2 hours. YOU MUST BE 18 OR OVER TO VOLUNTEER WITH US. NO EXCEPTIONS. Contact us for other volunteer opportunities.
If interested in volunteering please fill out an application at http://lifelongfriends.org/uploads/documents/volunteer-application.pdf
